Head through Maui's county seat of Wailuku to the famous Iao Valley -- a very special place for both its spiritual value and spectacular scenery. It was designated a National Natural Landmark in 1972 and is home to the iconic Iao Needle -- a rocky spire of spiritual significance.
Next, pause at the Upcountry (high-elevation) Kula Botanic Garden on the slopes of Haleakala volcano. Eight acres of colorful plants reside alongside amazing rock formations, a covered bridge, waterfalls, a koi pond, an aviary and a tiki exhibit.
Enjoy a picnic-style lunch in a spectacular outdoor setting.
The Lavender Farm offers a self-guided walking tour to complete at your own pace with a bird's-eye view of Maui's central valley. Learn about some flora and fauna that exist nowhere else in the world.
Notes:
Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a light jacket. Minimum age is 8 years. Maximum weight is 300 lbs. Tour does not operate on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
