Salmon, cod, rockfish, and ling cod are the order of the day on this highly adaptable adventure fishing excursion. Anyone can put a line in the water, but it takes skill to catch the variety of fish species that Alaska’s waters offer. You and your guide are free to chase whatever species offers the best chance of action in the moment. This five-hour trip is about fun, fishing flexibility, and adventure.
If the salmon are running, your guide is likely to recommend a day spent trolling through schools of pink, silver, and the elusive mighty king salmon. If you’re looking to have fun hooking fish on light tackle, you’ll seek out schools of rockfish suspended in the water column. On a particularly calm day, you might run farther in search of Pacific cod and ling cod.
Along the way, you’ll see primeval forests and sheer mountains, with a good chance of spotting marine mammals such as whales, porpoises and seals. Catch a fish? Now enjoy every bite, perfectly prepared by an expert chef and served on board the ship. The Savour My Catch program is a true ocean-to-fork experience and is available with this fishing adventure.
Note:
Minimum age is 5 years. Minimum weight is 30 lbs; maximum weight is 300 lbs. Deck or rubber-soled shoes must be worn on board. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer. Rain gear, rubber boots, comfortable float jackets, wool socks, hat and gloves are provided, as well as all fishing equipment and tackle. A boxed snack includes smoked salmon dip, crackers, fruit, and a cookie. Guests who choose to have their fish processed and sent home (to the US only) will need to bring their credit card to pay for processing. A catch is likely but is not guaranteed. Although this tour is included in the Savour My Catch program; there is no guarantee that your catch will meet the required food safety standards (temperature, condition, color, etc) upon delivery to the ship; the ship’s food preparation staff will assess your catch’s suitability. All fish not being kept for Savour My Catch or shipping are released safely back into the wild. You will not fish for halibut on this trip; if you encounter one in the process of chasing other species, it will be released. The Alaska Department of Fish & Game implements conservation measures to protect king salmon; restrictions on keeping your catch may apply. Please check directly with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game for restrictions specific to your tour date. Only fish species that do not have restrictions in place can be shipped home or delivered to the ship for Savour My Catch.
