Journey beyond Dakar for a full-day exploration of Lake Retba and the surrounding villages, combining an off-road adventure with opportunities to experience local culture and traditions.
Depart the pier aboard an air-conditioned coach for the approximately 1-hour-and-15-minute drive to the Lake Retba area. Upon arrival in Niaga Village, make a quick stop to take in the surroundings and enjoy time for photos.
Next, transfer to a 4x4 vehicle for an approximately two-hour off-road adventure through the Lake Retba area. Travel around the lake, across the surrounding sandy terrain, and through nearby villages. Along the way, learn about the area's traditional salt-harvesting practices and visit a Fulani village for a glimpse into local village life.
Following your 4x4 adventure, continue to Keur Salim Lodge, located along the shores of Lake Retba. Relax and enjoy lunch before continuing your exploration.
After lunch, travel to Noflaye Village. During your visit, experience traditional Senegalese culture through local demonstrations, including music, dance, and Senegalese wrestling.
At the conclusion of your visit, reboard your coach for the approximately 1-hour-and-15-minute drive back to the pier.
