Discover two of Senegalb s distinctive artistic traditions during this hands-on experience in Dakar, where youb ll meet local artists and create two works of art to take home with you.
Board your coach at the pier for the approximately 30-minute drive to a local sand painting gallery and working artistb s studio. Here, meet skilled Senegalese sand painters and learn about the techniques used to create artwork from naturally colored sands sourced from across Africa.
Then, itb s your turn to become the artist. During a 90-minute hands-on workshop, your instructor will guide you through the process of creating your own sand painting. All materials are provided, and your finished artwork is yours to keep as a personal souvenir of your visit to Senegal.
Next, reboard your coach for the approximately 30-minute drive to Dakarb s Medina district, a lively neighborhood known for its local culture and artistic traditions.
Upon arrival, meet artists specializing in underglass painting, a traditional technique in which the artwork is painted in reverse on the back of a piece of glass. During a two-hour private workshop, youb ll learn about this fascinating art form before creating your own underglass painting with guidance from the local artists. Your finished piece is also yours to take home.
Following your workshop, reboard your coach for the approximately 30-minute return drive to the pier..
