Here's a hands-on, do-it-yourself (DIY) experience where you will produce your own local souvenirs. Set out on a 90-minute panoramic drive to The Foundry at Royal Selangor Pewter. Here, you will make your own pewter accessory using the contemporary methods of this modern workshop. Experts guide you through the processes of casting and polishing your pewter souvenir. Adventurous and creative types can create a freehand design; mere mortals are welcome to adopt an existing form. Choose your preferred finishing — either a bright finish or an antique finish. Afterward, visit the retail floor and enjoy a light refreshment at Royal Selangor's café.
To add to your collection of Malaysian souvenirs, you will visit the Kuala Lumpur City Gallery, housed in a 114-year-old Moorish-style building. Study an interesting collection of prints, miniatures and photographs and see a collection of beautiful woodcut art pieces and miniatures modelled after the city's heritage buildings and landmarks. Watch artisans at work creating these beautiful pieces — inspiration for the DIY workshop that comes next. You will make your own woodcut souvenir to take home and treasure.
