Embark on a captivating journey to the picturesque Osaek Valley in Seoraksan National Park, nestled along the route from Osaek-ri, Yangyang-gun. Renowned for its vibrant fall foliage, this scenic haven boasts captivating rock formations and a fascinating history. The name "Osaek," meaning "five colors," is inspired by the five hues found in Jujeongol’s rock formations and the legendary five-colored tree associated with Osaekseoksa Temple's ancient tales.
Our adventure begins with a leisurely 3.2 km-long trail, linking Seongguksa Temple, Seonnyeotang Pothole, and the Yongso Falls Information Center. This accessible 1-hour route, adorned with wooden decks, offers an enchanting journey through rising rocks and lush surroundings. As you embark on this trail, the Osaek Mineral Spring welcomes you at the entrance, delivering water with a distinctive flavor owing to natural carbonation and iron content.
Marvel at the extraordinary rock formations, including Namseorak’s iconic landmarks like Seonnyeotang Pothole, Geumgangmun Gate, and Yongso Falls. Following the trek, visit the vast Sokcho Tourist & Fisheries Market, whose 450 stores include fish stalls in the basement and two above-ground levels selling food, clothing, snacks and local delicacies. Don't miss to try some dak-gangjeong (sweet and sour chicken) -- a delicious little bite.
