Visit the ancient Kashima Jingu Shrine, reputedly built in 660 BC. It was made for worship the god of warriors -- Takemikazuchi-no-Okami.
Enjoy lunch and head to the Kairakuen Garden. Stroll the gardens famous for their plum blossoms and other beautiful features. Experience a traditional Japanese tea tasting ceremony during your visit.
Step inside the Kiuchi Brewery. Originally a sake brewery, it is now known for another product -- Nest beer. This craft beer was first made in 1996, and has since won many international awards. Learn about traditional sake and sample some Nest beer.
Notes:
You must remove your shoes for the tea ceremony. Guests will be separated into two groups at the garden due to the limited capacity for the tea ceremony. The lunch menu is a Japanese set menu; no substitutions can be made (not suitable for vegetarian or vegan guests). Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Traffic can be unpredictable. The driver will do his/her best to keep moving safely. Your patience is greatly appreciated. Delays occasionally extend tour duration. Blooms in Kairakuen Garden is depending on seasons.
