Visit the Kairakuen Garden -- one of Japan's three most celebrated gardens. It was founded by the Mito clan, who presided over this area in 1842. The garden is famous for its beautiful plum blossoms.
At Nakaminato fish market, wander past stalls of fresh fish and other seasonal seafood.
Step inside the Oarai-Isosaki Shrine. See the iconic Tori gate that stands on the rocky beach with waves crashing around it.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. There is a 10-minute walk from the bus parking lot to the Kairakuen Garden. Participants must negotiate approximately 100 steps at the Oarai Isosaki Shrine. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Traffic can be unpredictable. The driver will do his/her best to keep moving safely. Your patience is greatly appreciated. Delays occasionally extend tour duration. The visit of order may vary. Blooms in Kairakuen Garden is depending on seasons.
