Washington is home to more than 900 wineries and is now the nation's second-largest wine-producing state. At its heart lies Woodinville — a district known for its exceptional vintages, many of which are rated 90+ points by critics. Don't miss this unparalleled opportunity to learn about and savor fine wines.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive through lush landscapes to Woodinville, where you'll enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes tours and tastings at two premier wineries.
Begin in the Warehouse Winery District of Woodinville, set on a hilltop overlooking the vineyards. At a family-owned winery focused on reds from Rhône varietals, sample wines exemplifying the "new-old-world" style. This profile showcases the fruit handled with a lighter touch by the winemaker. It differs from many Bordeaux-style Washington blends, which tend to be fuller-bodied.
Savor a simple lunch while enjoying the stunning surroundings.
Next, visit Matthews Winery and Farm, inspired by the great blending techniques of Bordeaux and fully embracing the exceptional fruit produced in Washington State. The grapes here are sustainably grown and hand-harvested in the Columbia Valley from 150-year-old vines. Long, sunny days and cool nights produce highly structured, long-finish wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and beautiful, tannin-rich, oak-enveloped blends.
