Nature lovers and conservation supporters will delight in this full-day excursion featuring a canal cruise through a mangrove ecosystem, abundant flora and fauna, and a delicious seafood lunch at La Cocotera Eco Lodge.
You'll pass farming communities and sugar cane plantations on a 90-minute transfer to the tiny fishing village of Barra de Santiago. Here, step onto a flat-bottom boat and take a seat on one of the two shaded benches. A scenic, 90-minute cruise takes you through the channels bisecting a magnificent mangrove forest. Your knowledgeable guide highlights local bird and marine life, including potential sightings of crocodiles and a variety of coastal and migratory birds.
Step ashore at La Cocotera Eco Lodge — a luxury resort with a focus on ecology. With two mineral-treated pools, palms providing natural shade, and organic dining options, La Cocotera also plays an important role in the conservation of its surrounding natural habitat. A delicious buffet lunch with soda is included. Additional sodas and alcoholic beverages are available for purchase (at your own expense).
Shop for Salvadoran coffee and crafts before you return to the pier.
