Start your tour with a short ride from the pier to the main city square. Here you will have the chance to visit the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, a double-spired church with Gothic, Moorish, and Baroque influence. It is also adorned with 28 stained glass windows.
Continue through Mazatlán and into the heart of the Old Town area. In Machado Square, see the House of Music, a museum, old houses, and the magnificent and recently-restored Angela Peralta Theater -- named in honor of the world-famous Mexican opera singer.
You will then make your way through the narrow cobblestone streets into Olas Altas where several sculptures line this old beachfront, and your guide will explain their history as you make your way to a rocky promontory to watch the fearless cliff divers.
Refreshments and chips and salsa are served at a typical beachfront restaurant bar in the old town, where your walking tour ends.
Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship at their own expense.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes; the sidewalks are uneven. The Opera House may be closed for rehearsals. Tour sequence may vary.
