Experience some of the Big Island's most scenic and authentic attractions on this full-day adventure from Hilo.
Begin with a drive through historic Hilo, passing the waterfront before arriving at Rainbow Falls, one of Hawaii's most famous waterfalls. Enjoy approximately 30 minutes to view and photograph the impressive 80-foot waterfall and, weather permitting, look for the colorful rainbow that often appears in the mist.
Next, visit Lili House Farm, a family-owned farm where you'll meet some of the resident animals and learn about local farming practices. Guests will have the opportunity to interact with and pet selected animals during this visit.
Continue to Ka'u Coffee Mill, located in Hawaii's renowned coffee-growing region. Here you'll enjoy a guided introduction to the coffee-making process, from cultivation to roasting, followed by a tasting of locally grown Ka'u coffee. A deli-style picnic lunch is included at the coffee mill.
After lunch, travel to Punalu'u Black Sand Beach, one of the most beautiful black sand beaches in Hawaii. Spend time walking along the shoreline, taking photographs, and searching for Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu), which are often seen resting on the beach or swimming just offshore. Please note that swimming is not permitted due to strong currents and potentially dangerous ocean conditions.
Before returning to the ship, stop in downtown Hilo where you'll have free time to browse local shops for Hawaiian gifts, souvenirs, snacks, and locally made products.
Notes:
Minimum age is 5 years. Children 9 years and under require a car seat, per Hawaii state law; the tour operator can supply a child safety or booster seat at no charge with advance notice to the Shore Excursions team on board. Wear closed-toe shoes (mandatory). Participants must be able to walk over uneven terrain and climb stairs without assistance. Guests with a heart, back or neck condition are not allowed to participate. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.
