Belgium’s small stature belies its huge role in European history. Brussels, the country’s capital and EU headquarters, is an easy drive from Antwerp, the “City of Rubens”; medieval Ghent (waffles and chocolate, anyone?), Napoleon’s Waterloo, and the Nazi prison camp at Breendonk are all nearby, as well.
