Here's some fun with a four-legged buddy. In the Finnmark region, high reliance on the Siberian husky and other polar dogs means a close bond between people and their dogs. Today's outing starts with an introduction to this amazing breed.
Your guide matches you up with a furry friend suited to your personality. Don't be fooled by your dog's wild appearance — these are sociable, fun-loving animals that love to be petted and praised. Once you're paired with your perfect dog, set off on an evening walk to learn all about them, the Finnmark, the climate here, the White Nights and the harsh winter.
Notes:
Participants must be physically fit. One dog accompanies each two guests; you will trade back and forth holding the harness leash. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. Wear sturdy non-skid walking/hiking shoes. Terrain is mostly flat and on asphalt, with some small gravel paths and light elevations. The huskies are strong, energetic working dogs. Although well-trained, they can pull forcefully, and guests should not underestimate their strength. Please follow all guide instructions and be prepared for active participation.
