Head south to Tofta Lodge & Beach Resort. This facility dates back to the 1930s when Swedes started visiting seaside resorts for recreation. Visiting families lived, dined and relaxed together just a few yards from the sandy beach.
Today, Tofta Strandpensionat retains the charming atmosphere of the 1960s with the addition of the warm hospitality of the Jacobsson family. Sample a selection of Gotland cuisine specialties — a very tasty occasion!
Not far away, Ansarve Farm is home to about 150 ewes (female sheep). Here, Jenny Granlund and her family and friends make clothes and interior décor items using wool, sheepskin and yarn from their own sheep.
Take a guided walk (about ¾ mile) through Visby — a medieval stone city surrounded by an intact wall built in the 13th century. Watch for medieval warehouses and church ruins, and visit the beautiful St Mary's Cathedral .
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, inclines, gravel, grass, and many steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Tour sequence may vary. Inside church visit(s) may not be possible if religious services are being held or if precluded by time constraints.
