Begin your tour with an introduction to Cobh, the second-largest city in Ireland, situated on the River Lee. Today, the Lee flows through the city in two main channels, so that you will find yourself constantly crossing bridges on your panoramic drive.
You will see the spires of St Fin Barre's Cathedral, the Old Courthouse, City Hall and the renowned Bells of Shandon. This unique university town is a hub for jazz, film, opera and theatre. Although it offers all the amenities of a large city, it retains the pleasant charm and friendliness of a country town.
Heading out of Cobh, travel east to the village of Midleton — the town from which the famous rare Irish whiskey gets its name.
You will visit the Old Jameson Distillery, now revamped as the Midleton Distillery Experience, an experience that will take you right to the heart of the cherished whiskey-making tradition.
Enjoy a guided tour of this beautifully restored 18th-century self-contained industrial complex.
Check out the copper still with a capacity of 32,000 gallons — the largest in the world. Then, see the Irish whiskey legend come alive with a brief audiovisual presentation.
After the history lesson is an opportunity for a tasting, relax and sample Ireland's finest whiskey. You'll also have some free time to explore the giftware in the new-look Distillery Shop before reboarding the coach and returning to the ship.
