After a short hop by coach into the city center of Newcastle, meet your guide for an exciting introduction to the city and its many highlights.
On foot, you'll explore Grainger Town and the classical architecture of the city's heart, including Earl Grey's Monument, the fabulous Grey Street with its many cafés, and the shopping quarter around Northumberland Street. Discover hidden gems along the way, such as the High Bridge Quarter or the historical indoor Grainger Market.
Continue to Old Newcastle and stroll past the city's castle -- the one that gave the city its name. Venture through Newcastle Cathedral before heading to the riverside.
The Quayside on the River Tyne is a fabulous mix of old and new and includes historical sites such as the BALTIC Contemporary Arts Centre as well as some of the latest architectural gems. The Sage Gateshead by architect Sir Norman Foster and the Millennium Bridge -- the world's first and largest tilting bridge -- are just some of the highlights in this area.
Notes:
Tour requires approximately 90 minutes of walking. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Terrain includes cobblestones, uneven surfaces, inclines and steps. Grainger Market is closed on Sundays.
