Nothing captures Mexico's festive culture like the piñata. This iconic handicraft brings fun, color and surprise to a celebration. Today, at a picturesque ranch, you're invited to make your own.
Leave the ship and visit the glamorous marina — the little Monaco of the Mexican Riviera. A towering 30-foot-tall statue of a humpback whale mother and calf greets you, along with yachts from all over the world.
At a countryside venue, relax with a mimosa or a refreshing Mexican lemonade. Here, begin your piñata workshop, with experienced artisans leading you step by step through the creative process. As you construct your piece using traditional materials and methods, you will learn about the origins of this Mexican art form. Cap off the experience with a chance to take a whack at a pre-made piñata, complete with candies and surprises.
Enjoy two delicious tacos, prepared with handmade corn tortillas, and an opportunity to purchase more. Then, you will have ample free time to shop for Mexican ceramics, Huichol art, leather goods, souvenirs, and tequila. Afterward, return to the ship.
Notes:
Bring local currency, as some vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
