Depart the Port of Messina and pass the Viale Boccetta and Immacolata Church.
You'll travel by way of the Tyrrhenian Coast with views of the Aeolian Islands. Your destination is Tindari, founded by the Greeks and later rebuilt by the ancient Romans. It is still a small town with a pleasant character. Highlights are the Greco-Roman theatre, the Roman ruins, and the Santuario della Madonna Nera Church.
Take advantage of some free time for souvenir shopping before heading back to Messina.
Notes:
Tour requires a quarter-mile uphill walk from the coach parking area to the sanctuary and a further quarter-mile uphill walk from the sanctuary to the Roman ruins. Please realistically assess your physical fitness and ability before booking, as the incline is steep. Modest attire is required; knees, shoulders, and midriffs must be covered. Use of an audio headset (included) will enhance your tour experience.
