Discover Kauai in a small, intimate group environment. Your day begins by exploring the famous Opaeka'a Falls and Poliahu Heiau — one of Kauai's sacred and historic locations. It also takes you to the Wailua River and Fern Grotto. These are among the island's most popular attractions.
Take a leisurely boat ride up the Wailua River — the only navigable river in the State of Hawaii. The famously romantic Fern Grotto offers a natural amphitheater of lava rock and tropical vegetation — you'll be met here and serenaded in true Hawaiian style. Just for a moment, it's like stepping back in time.
Discover the North Shore of this beautiful island, learning about its history and culture. Your guide will tell you the legend of the Sleeping Giant, and you will visit the breathtaking Kilauea Lighthouse and the nearby Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge & Bird Sanctuary.
At Anini Beach, enjoy an island-style picnic lunch.
View the Princeville resort area and Hanalei Bay from the coach en route back to the pier.
Notes:
Minimum age is 5 years. Kilauea Lighthouse is closed Sundays-Tuesdays; a visit to the area will still be included, but the lighthouse and grounds will be inaccessible. A panini lunch is provided at Anaina Hou Park; vegetarian options can be requested at least 48 hours prior to arrival in Nawiliwili. Shops at Kilohana Manor House are closed on Sundays; shopping at Hilo Hattie's will be substituted. The content of this tour is identical to Kings, Trains & Waterfalls. Only non-ambulatory guests using a wheelchair that requires specific accommodations, such as a lift/ramp and a wheelchair anchor on the transportation, can book this tour, as it ensures accessible transportation (guests using a collapsible wheelchair and able to board the coach via the steps must book Kings, Trains & Waterfalls. Due to the specialized nature of some lift-equipped vehicles, priority is given to guests using a wheelchair and one companion only; additional companions may be required to travel on non-accessible transportation and should book the same tour under the title Kings, Trains & Waterfalls. The tour operator suggests bringing a companion to assist if needed, as guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs. Accessibility may not fully comply with the standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); terrain, transportation, or activity constraints may limit the ability to meet specific accessibility requirements. The lift on the vehicle can accommodate a maximum weight of 500 lbs; maximum wheelchair lift width is 30 inches. Bookings not marked with an accessibility requirement will be removed from the tour's inventory. Please complete the Special Services form at https://book.hollandamerica.com/specialServices/login.action; this will ensure that suitable transportation is in place for your tour.
