Discover the scenic beauty and rich history of Hawai?i Island's spectacular Hamakua Coast on this full-day sightseeing adventure. Travel through a landscape of lush valleys, dramatic sea cliffs, waterfalls, and historic towns that showcase the charm of "Old Hawai?i."
Your first stop is the famous Tex Drive-In, where you'll have the opportunity to purchase one of Hawai?i's beloved malasadas - warm, freshly made Portuguese-style donuts that have become a local favorite.
Continue to the Waipi?o Valley Lookout, one of the island's most breathtaking viewpoints. From the overlook, take in panoramic views of the "Valley of the Kings," where towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, taro fields, and black-sand shoreline create an unforgettable landscape.
Next, visit Laupahoehoe Point, a rugged and scenic peninsula known for its dramatic ocean views and poignant history. Learn about the devastating 1946 tsunami and view the memorial dedicated to those who lost their lives.
Travel along the scenic coast to Akaka Falls State Park, where you'll enjoy a walk through a tropical rainforest filled with orchids, bamboo, and ferns. Choose either the shorter or longer trail to view the spectacular 442-foot Akaka Falls, one of Hawai?i's most impressive waterfalls.
Afterward, stop in the charming plantation town of Honomu, where you'll have free time to purchase lunch at a local café or restaurant.
Your journey continues to Rainbow Falls, an 80-foot waterfall known for the rainbows that often appear in its mist. Enjoy time for photos and learn about the Hawaiian legends associated with the falls.
Before returning to the pier, stop at the iconic King Kamehameha Statue and browse local shops in downtown Hilo for Hawaiian-made products, Kona coffee, macadamia nuts, souvenirs, and island crafts.
