A 45-minute drive from the port brings you to Ras Mohamed National Park. Its protected area includes a desert peninsula, a lovely beach, and underwater coral reefs. The reef ecosystems found in the National Park are recognized internationally as being among the world’s best due to their diversity of flora and fauna, and clear, warm water devoid of pollutants.
A certified diver will fit you out with snorkel gear and brief you about all the procedures and general safety instructions.
Entering the water, you will explore the natural beauty of this incredible area. A spectacular vertical profile lends the reef an explosion of color and life in stark contrast to the seemingly barren desert adjacent to it. In reality, the desert is also rich in fauna -- desert foxes and Nubian ibex, as well as birdlife such as white storks, herons, gulls, terns and osprey.
Notes: Wear your swimsuit under your clothing; bring a towel, reef-safe/biodegradable sunscreen, light clothing to act as a full cover-up for further protection from the sun, and a hat. There are no changing facilities or restrooms at Ras Mohamed. The drive from the port to the park is by minibus. Minimum age is 6 years.
