Your expedition into the heart of a thrilling natural spectacle includes a stop at the Trou aux Cerfs — an extinct volcano in the middle of Curepipe. It offers an exceptional panoramic view of the Moka mountain range and the northwest coastline. This steep crater now holds a natural lake.
Visit the model ship factory and pass through the Plaine Champagne Forest as you leave Curepipe. See Grand Bassin Lake — sacred to the Hindu community of Mauritius.
En route to the Black River Gorges, enjoy picturesque scenery along the Plaine Champagne Road. Stop at the viewpoint to overlook the valley, which is a prime habitat for some intriguing endemic plant and rare bird species — the pink pigeon, the kestrel, and the Mauritian fody.
Don't miss Seven Colored Earths — a geological curiosity whose name is inspired by the multi-hued soil found at the site, with yellow, blue, red and shades in between.
