Begin your unforgettable day with a scenic drive from Alexandria Port toward Cairo, where the legendary Pyramids of Giza await. These iconic monuments — built more than 4,500 years ago — are the only surviving wonders of the ancient world. Constructed as grand tombs for Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure (known in Greek as Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus), the pyramids reflect the ancient belief that their sloping sides symbolized sun rays guiding the pharaohs to the heavens.
Explore the awe-inspiring scale of these structures, composed of more than two million limestone blocks. Contrary to popular myth, these pyramids were not built by slaves, but by Egyptian laborers fulfilling their civic duty — fed, clothed, and housed by the state.
You'll have the rare opportunity to enter the Great Cheops Pyramid. Walk through its narrow passageways to the burial chamber and stand inside one of the most remarkable architectural achievements in human history.
Don't miss a visit to the tomb of Meresankh III, granddaughter of Khufu and wife of Khafre. Her beautifully preserved tomb features vivid reliefs depicting scenes of daily life and statues of women carved directly into the limestone — a glimpse into royal traditions and artistry.
The highlight of your day is an exclusive, private visit to the Paws of the Sphinx. This rare access allows you to step inside the monument's enclosure and stand between the Sphinx's massive paws, walk around the monument at close quarters, and photograph it from angles typically closed to the public. You'll also view the Dream Stela up close as your expert Egyptologist guide shares its fascinating story and significance.
After lunch at a local restaurant with panoramic views of the pyramids, return to Alexandria with memories to last a lifetime.
Notes:
Service animals, including dogs, are not permitted at the Pyramids. Travel time to Cairo is approximately 2½ to 3 hours each way. Motorcoaches are required to travel in a police-escorted convoy and may be subject to security delays; your patience is appreciated. You will have the opportunity to enter the Cheops Pyramid; however, this is not advisable for individuals with claustrophobia or heart and respiratory conditions, as the interior is hot and stuffy, requiring visitors to bend and crouch at times. Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, stones, inclines, gravel, sand, and many steps. Photography/video is not permitted inside the Pyramids of Giza. Modest attire is recommended; knees, shoulders, and midriffs must be covered. Tight-fitting, transparent, or translucent clothing is not advisable. Please err on the side of conservatism with your attire. Minimum age is 6 years. Tour does not operate on holidays.
Cancellation Policy: This excursion is non-refundable within 30 days prior to arrival at Alexandria. Any cancellations made after this deadline will be subject to full payment of the tour cost, including if you cancel your cruise within 30 days prior to arrival at Alexandria.
