Visit Virginia's Military Aviation Museum — home to one of the world's largest private collections of World War II and Korean War era fighters, bombers, trainers and seaplanes. Many aircraft have been fully restored to their World War II condition and are airworthy. They are often used for flight demonstrations, movie production and commercials. Enjoy a guided tour of the galleries and shop in the gift shop stocked with all things flight related.
Beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay accompany you to Virginia Beach. Watch for elegant private residences, charming coastal cottages, and the famous resort strip. Spend some free time on the Boardwalk for a stroll along the wide sandy beach and perhaps dip your toes in the Atlantic waters.
Don't miss a stop at Doumar's — an iconic local drive-in that is home to the world's first ice cream cone machine, still in use today. Order a waffle cone with your choice of ice cream flavor.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
