Explore Alaska's breathtaking wilderness on this rugged 4x4 expedition along Chichagof Island's stunning mountain trails. This small-group tour is an intimate experience of the temperate rainforest surrounding this island paradise.
This adventurous you-drive tour starts at the pier with a scenic bus ride through Hoonah, an authentic Tlingit village with unpaved roads and no stoplights. En route to the trailhead, which is high in the majestic mountains of Chichagof Island, an expert guide will provide a narrative of the area's history.
Listen to a brief orientation before boarding your TOMCAR off-road vehicle. Setting off on your ride, you will follow a trail into the Alaska wilderness, enjoying the forests, valleys and stunning mountainous scenery. With stops along the way to allow others to switch into the driver's seat, there will also be plenty of time to take in the breathtaking views of Icy Strait and take photographs.
Notes:
Minimum age is 6 years. Minimum age to drive is 18 years with a valid driver's license. Guests 16 to 17 years old with a valid driver's license may drive if accompanied by a parent or guardian. There must be one licensed driver for every unlicensed participant. The trail is bumpy; guests who are pregnant or have a back or neck condition are not allowed to participate.
