Visit a Greenlandic home and hear the story of the host's life in the Arctic.
Kaffemik is a Greenlandic tradition you must experience. This social gathering usually takes place when locals are celebrating a special event or milestone, such as birthdays, the first day of school, new additions to the family, or someone's confirmation, but the real enjoyment comes from simply being together.
A warm welcome awaits you at a local home. Your friendly host greets you with an opportunity to learn firsthand what it means to live in the Arctic. Hear all about Greenlandic life and traditions while enjoying a slice of Greenlandic cake accompanied by tea and coffee.
Notes:
Bring a mosquito net to cover your head and face, and insect repellent. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer. Tour requires walking to and from the host's home — approximately 15 minutes each way.
