Walk 500 yards from the tender pier to board a boat for an amazing morning or afternoon out on the water surrounding Nanortalik, just below the Arctic Circle.
A myriad of granddaddy icebergs form a habitat for a large variety of marine mammals — seals, humpback whales and minke whales, as well as numerous seabird species. Keep an eye out for any and all of these fascinating creatures.
Your skillful skipper takes you as close as possible to these scattered mountains of ice.
Notes:
Wildlife sightings are likely but not guaranteed. Both open and closed boats are used for this tour. Guests on some of the open boats will be provided with flotation suits to stay warm on the tour. Suits are available in sizes S - 3XL. Wear sturdy, non-skid walking shoes. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf. The level of guide experience varies due to the remoteness of the location. Limited tourism infrastructure is part of the charm here, and you are trading breadth of experience for authentic interaction. Please bring your spirit of adventure and bear with any language difficulties your guide may encounter and with any operational surprises that may crop up. There are no restrooms available during the tour. Minimum age is 16 years.
