Enjoy a day of discovery and adventure in the wondrous Veragua Rainforest mountain reserve. Home to 585 butterfly, 808 beetle, 100 mammal, 80 reptile, 68 amphibian, and 400 bird species, Veragua showcases the wonders of the Costa Rican rainforest.
Glide through the picturesque rainforest treetops on a Sky Gondola for amazing panoramic views. Your expert guide points out the spectacular wildlife that makes this one of the most biodiverse locales on the planet. Keep your camera ready for howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, and parrots.
Pick a trail for an easy walk on the Trail of the Giants along the riverbank or a more challenging path to the 65-foot cascading Puma Waterfall. Your guide will teach you about frogs and insects you're likely to encounter.
Enjoy a variety of other exhibits, including the:
Reptile Exhibit: Walk through a live reptile exhibit, learning about snakes and lizards.
Frog Exhibit: You'll see frogs in environments replicating their natural habitats. Marvel at large bullfrogs, red-eyed tree frogs, and fascinating, tiny frogs smaller than a fingernail. Some frogs feed by day while others prefer the nighttime.
Butterfly Garden: Explore one of Costa Rica's largest Butterfly Gardens, enchanted by hundreds of colorful butterflies flying around you. Expand your knowledge at the Butterfly Laboratory.
Visit the Foundation for Rainforest Research laboratories and meet the research biologists. Partnering with the University of Costa Rica, they work to unlock nature's mysteries and expand scientific knowledge of the rainforest's fragile ecosystem. To date, they have discovered three new species including a beetle and a frog.
Finally, return to the visitor center for a light snack buffet of sandwiches, fresh tropical fruits and juices. Make good use of some free time in the gift shop stocked with a variety of Costa Rican art and creative mementos from this inspiring corner of Costa Rica.
