Step off the beaten track and experience the stunning natural beauty of Ellingsøya on this scenic hike to Sperrenakken — one of the island's most breathtaking viewpoints. Just a short panoramic drive through an undersea tunnel brings you close to unforgettable fjord views and the surrounding nature.
Head to the peaceful seaside village of Vik and set out on a trail that gently winds through forest and open meadows. Partway up, pause at a charming swing overlooking the fjords — a fun photo opportunity (or a gentle swing with a view you'll never forget) and a great way to take in the scenery before continuing toward the top.
As you climb higher, the landscape opens up, revealing sweeping views of Ålesund, the surrounding islands, and the dramatic peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps.
At the Sperrenakken Viewpoint, 1,050 feet asl (320 m), spectacular 360° views are a true local gem that few visitors experience. Take a moment to relax, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and experience what Norwegians call friluftsliv — the joy of being outdoors and connecting with nature.
