Begin with a drive eastward through the lovely countryside of Zupa Dubrovacka (the Parish of Dubrovnik) and the picturesque villages of Kupari, Srebreno, Mlini and Plat.
Take in the scenery of the Konavle Valley, Croatia's southernmost region, shaped by the hills bordering Bosnia & Herzegovina in the north and northeast. Steep cliffs, coves and capes extend from Prevlaka and Molunat in the far south to Cavtat. This area of 33 villages is renowned for its traditional stone architecture, lush greenery and, above all, for its rich cultural tradition in handicrafts. The prosperity of this fertile farming area and bountiful oasis was fostered by strong ties to the Republic of Dubrovnik. Its name comes from the Latin canales, due to numerous channels providing potable water from Vodovadja village to Cavtat.
Your bike riding adventure begins in the village of Gruda, located in the center of the valley. You will ride through the picturesque Konavle fields, abundant with vineyards, olive groves and orchards, crossing the bridges over the Konavocica and Ljuta Rivers.
Pause on the riverbank for photos and refreshments.
Notes:
Travel time to the bike center is approximately 45 minutes each way. The route is mainly flat with a few short uphill sections. There will be a 30- to 40-minute break. Minimum age is 12 years. Participants must know how to ride a bike.
