The beauty of Barbados unfolds as you travel along the scenic southwestern side of the island. Turquoise waters hug the coastline en route to Harrison's Cave. You'll hear about the Baobab tree, sugar cane, and the Sharon Moravian Church. As you head inland, lush vegetation in hues of green and a refreshing hush welcome you.
At the Harrison's Cave Eco-Adventure Park, adventure awaits. Watch the short Discover Barbados film; then, it's helmets on for the Signature Tram Tour into a subterranean world. Picturesque streams, waterfalls, and magnificent stalactite and stalagmite formations create an eerie, fascinating and beautiful environment.
Above ground, stretch your legs on a relaxing walk along a scenic trail. Connect with nature while learning about the local flora and fauna and keeping an eye out for great photo spots.
Take in the Mount Gay Rum Experience to learn more about the history of rum in Barbados (at your own expense) or use your spare time to shop for souvenirs.
On the drive back to Bridgetown, watch for the former Lion Castle polo estate perched at 1,000 feet above sea level. Discover Barbados' earliest freedom village with a brief stop at the towering Rock Hall monument, which pays homage to a family kidnapped for slavery.
Navigating through Holetown, see where the first British settlers stepped ashore back in 1627 and take in views of luxurious villas, hotels, and the palm-fringed Platinum Coast before heading back to the pier.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable/reef-safe sunscreen. Bring bottled water.
