Discover Port Lincoln's seafood story -- a wonderful epic for the senses, leading from the briny sea air to savoring crispy fish and chips.
Begin at the Axel Strenross Maritime Museum to learn about the early days of Port Lincoln's tuna-fishing industry. Filled with maritime history, relics and artifacts, the museum has indoor and outdoor displays, including an operating slipway, historical vessels and a blacksmith's shop.
Next, take a look at the local marina -- home to the largest commercial fishing fleet in Australia.
A guided tour of a multi-fish-species processing factory is a must for seafood-lovers. From oyster shucking to fish filleting, you can see how seafood is processed and made ready for sale. Learn how to open oysters, peel prawns like a pro, and how the famous King George whiting is filleted at high speed. You'll also taste the in-house smoked fish and pickled seafood. The absolute highlight of the visit, though, is sure to be digging into a delicious serving of fresh fish and chips .
Return to the ship at the conclusion of the tour.
