What do symbols in ship deck plans mean for staterooms?

Answer: Deck plans for Holland America Line ships use a Stateroom Symbol Legend that helps define for guests which amenities, furniture configuration, and/or facilities are available in each of the suites and staterooms onboard our ships.

The symbol definitions mean the same thing across all Holland America Line ships, although stateroom symbols do not apply to all ships.

■ Quad: 2 lower beds, 1 sofa bed for 2 persons
□ Quad: 2 lower beds, 1 sofa bed, 1 upper
◉ Triple: 2 lower beds, 1 upper
○ Triple: 2 lower beds, 1 sofa bed
☆ 2 lower beds not convertible to a queen-size
❦ Double: 2 lower beds convertible to 1 king-size bed, no Murphy bed, no sofa bed
△ Partially obstructed sea view
X Fully obstructed view
+ Connecting rooms with adjoining doors
✦ Floor-to-ceiling windows
✻ Shower only
◗ Uncovered verandah
◆ Staterooms have solid steel verandah railings instead of clear-view Plexiglass® railings
