Enjoy a panoramic drive from the pier in San Antonio to the capital of Chile. Santiago is a city of enormous contrasts -- remnants of its colonial past are juxtaposed with the ultramodern, high-rise buildings of the financial center. This makes for an enthralling visual journey as your knowledgeable guide brings life to the landscape with informative commentary.
First, you'll head south through the downtown area as you pass the Club Hípico -- a manicured horseracing track in the older residential area of the city. Proceed alongside the Parque O'Higgins and the Cousiño Palace, built between 1870 and 1878 for the wealthy Cousiño family. See the Plaza de Armas, the city's bustling central square.
Santiago's colorful main avenue brings you across the Mapocho River into the Bohemian Bellavista district.
Enjoy a stop at Los Dominicos market in the Las Condes district, built like a small village with numerous handicraft shops. You will find artisans working with copper, wool, ceramics, lapis lazuli and other indigenous materials here. You'll have some free time to stroll and shop.
Lunch is served at a typical local restaurant. Your tour concludes in the late afternoon with a transfer to Santiago Airport.
