Explore the wild landscapes of Patagonia on this full-day adventure to Punta Ninfas and El Pedral Ranch, where you'll experience stunning coastal scenery, abundant wildlife, and traditional Patagonian hospitality.
After departing the pier, enjoy a scenic 1 hour and 20-minute drive across the Patagonian steppe to Punta Ninfas Lighthouse. Along the way, watch for native wildlife such as guanacos, rheas, and Patagonian hares. Upon arrival, spend approximately 25 minutes at the lighthouse overlooking Golfo Nuevo, taking in panoramic views of the rugged coastline and Atlantic Ocean
Continue to El Pedral Ranch, a historic sheep ranch dating back more than a century. After a brief visit to the main lodge and grounds, travel deeper into the property to reach the Magellanic Penguin colony.
From the drop-off point, you'll walk to the penguin rookery and spend approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes exploring the area with your guide. Observe hundreds of Magellanic penguins in their natural habitat and learn about their fascinating life cycle. Depending on the season, you may see nesting adults, chicks, or penguins traveling between their burrows and the sea. The surrounding beaches and cliffs are also home to elephant seals, sea lions, cormorants, and other seabirds, creating excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
Following your penguin experience, return to El Pedral Ranch where a traditional Patagonian barbecue lunch (asado) awaits. Spend approximately one hour enjoying local cuisine inside the historic ranch house, complete with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean.
After lunch, relax during the 1 hour and 20 minute drive back to Puerto Madryn and your ship.
Notes:
Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, inclines, gravel, and steps. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Although the penguins are not fearful of humans, do not approach them, as they can inflict serious bite wounds when startled. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf.
