This tour is designed to be accessible for all guests, including those using a wheelchair. Explore the fascinating ruin site of Herculaneum firsthand, including the House of Skeletons, the picturesque Old Marina, and the breathtaking Augustales Temple.
Meet your tour guide and accessible van at the cruise dock. From here, you will head out on a scenic drive to the ancient Roman town of Herculaneum. Upon arrival, you will embark on an accessible walking/rolling tour that allows you to experience the sites up close.
Your visit starts with seeing the iconic ancient town walls before making your way to the Old Marina, where archaeologists found more than 250 skeletons back in 1980. See the famous House of Skeletons and the Termopolium, which served as an early food bank.
You will also see the breathtaking Augustales Temple, thought to be the headquarters of the Collegium Augustalium — a civic order of freedmen.
One of the more luxurious mansions in Herculaneum is the House of the Black Salon. It presents an interesting contrast to the other highlights you have seen throughout your tour.
Enjoy a panoramic drive past some of the highlights of Naples — Plebescito Square, the San Carlo Theatre, the Galleria Umberto covered pavilion, the Royal Palace of Naples, and Castel Nuovo — en route back to the pier.
