Discover Dominica’s southern villages’ picturesque and natural beauty in an open-air ex-army Mercedes Unimog.
Breathtaking vistas accompany you as you travel from the capital, Roseau, through the villages of Newtown, Loubiere, Pointe-Michel and Soufriere, then onward to the extreme southern tip of the island. One of the many exciting photo opportunities along the way is the Soufriere/Scotts Head Bay Marine Reserve -- a submerged volcano with drop-offs, wrecks and an abundance of coral in pristine condition.
To the south, from any vantage point, the French island of Martinique is visible across the channel (weather permitting).
Head back north into the village of Soufriere to explore one of the oldest and architecturally best-kept churches in Dominica. You will learn about the church’s history and the grotto or cave where the faithful worship.
Dip your toes in along the seashore to feel the unbelievably warm water fed by geothermal vents in the seabed.
Next up is a restored estate property built in the early 20th century and named after Queen Charlotte, the wife of England’s King George III. This lush estate offers a place for relaxation, reflective thinking, bird watching and outdoor enjoyment. A refreshing beverage (fresh fruit juice or water) is served here before you return to the ship.
