Meet your guide at Lyttelton Port and enjoy a 20-minute van ride to Godley Head, where you'll receive a day bag, water bottle, and walking sticks before setting off.
Cross a sheep paddock to Scott's Cabin — a historic site tied to Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott. Take photos from its deck and observation platform.
Next, explore the World War II-era Taylor Battery coastal defense site and learn about its fascinating history.
After a gentle uphill stroll back to the transportation, time permitting, you may stop in the seaside suburb of Sumner to view Cave Rock, a striking volcanic formation, and enjoy a brief stroll along the esplanade. You’ll also pass the Christchurch Estuary, home to a variety of migratory bird species.
