Leaving the ship, board a high-speed ferry for the journey along the Waitemata Harbour to arrive at Matiatia wharf on beautiful Waiheke Island.
Travel by coach on a panoramic drive through Oneroa Village, past the many picturesque bays and beaches on the northern coast, and through the main residential and holiday home areas.
Head to two local wineries. With hot, dry summers and stony soils, Waiheke is a perfect growing ground for a variety of grapes. Boutique wineries produce high-quality wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and, more recently, Chardonnay. The gorgeous wine estates you will visit are true gems, and best of all, you will have the opportunity to taste the wines that are produced here.
You will return by public ferry to Auckland and walk back to the ship.
Notes:
Minimum age is 18 years. Minimum age to drink alcohol is 18 years, with a companion aged 21 years or older. Travel on the ferry is unguided. Tour requires walking approximately 800 yards each way from the ship to the ferry pier. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses. Tour duration includes a public ferry transfer to and from Waiheke Island. The ferry service may be busy; seating may not be available.
