Do I need any visas for my cruise?
You may. Holland America Line provides information on required travel documents and visas as a courtesy; however, guests must verify this information with the appropriate authorities. Visa and documentation requirements vary by nationality and destination.
As travel regulations may change, consult a visa service or the consulate of each country you plan to visit at least three weeks before your sailing date to ensure you have the correct documentation.

How do I know which visas I need?

China has historically had a complicated process for entry requirements that has changed regularly and without notice. Our recommendation for the best assurance to enjoy the ports of call to their fullest is to secure a Chinese visa. There are some exemptions to visa requirements that guests may be eligible for but relying upon one of these exemptions is at your own risk as they may change prior to your cruise or even during your time on board. Multiple Entry Visas If your itinerary involves exiting and re-entering a country, you may require a multiple-entry visa. This isn’t necessary if you’re visiting multiple ports within the same country in a row, only if you leave the country and then return.

Visas on Arrival Holland America can arrange single-entry visas on board during each cruise for the following countries: Indonesia, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
Any charges for the visa will be added to your shipboard account, and the fees are non-negotiable and non-refundable. Guests cannot purchase individual visas on their own upon arrival in port.
Note: Only single-entry visas on arrival are available on board. This means that each time your ship calls at one of these countries and you exit to visit other destinations, you will be charged for a new single-entry visa to re-enter the country. If your itinerary requires a multi-entry visa, it may be preferable to obtain one in advance of your voyage.
Do I need a visa if I don’t plan to go ashore in that country?
Certain countries require travelers to obtain and carry a visa for entry, even if you do not plan to leave the ship and go ashore.

Yes. Holders of a valid SAR passport (Hong Kong & Macau nationals) enjoy visa-free access to Japan for short-term visits of up to 90 days. Likewise, passport holders from Taiwan with national ID number enjoy the same privilege.
Additionally, Holland America Line can arrange a single-entry visa on board for Thailand for passport holders from Bulgaria, Bhutan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Vanuatu.
