Reimagined Ocean Bar Debuts on Oosterdam with Expanded Entertainment

New live music offerings, enhanced performance venue and heritage-inspired design come together as part of Holland America Evolution

Seattle, Wash., Sept. 3, 2026 — Holland America Line Evolution is bringing a new chapter to Ocean Bar aboard Oosterdam. Inspired by the glamour of the golden age of ocean travel, the redesigned venue brings live entertainment, cocktails and conversation together in a sophisticated new setting, featuring a new stage, refreshed lounge spaces and a reimagined layout designed to connect guests more closely with the performances.

The transformation introduces a new stage designed to showcase a wider range of programming, from regional soloists and pianists to Vivace Strings performances and late-night cabaret. A redesigned bar, strategically relocated to create a stronger connection to the performances, refreshed seating and inviting lounge spaces create an atmosphere equally suited for a signature cocktail, an evening performance or conversation long after the music ends.

“With the new Ocean Bar, we wanted to draw on the qualities that have made travel by sea so enduring, from its sense of elegance and occasion to the connections created along the way,” said Michael Stendebach, senior vice president of food, beverage and rooms division for Holland America Line. “Inspired by our maritime heritage, including design details drawn from Rotterdam V, this reimagined venue creates a setting where guests can gather for a cocktail, enjoy live music and immerse themselves in the refined elegance that has always been part of the Holland America experience.”

Bringing that vision to life, the refreshed Ocean Bar pairs refined aesthetics with enhancements designed to strengthen the connection between guests, the entertainment and the surrounding space. The redesigned bar serves as a focal point for the venue, with refreshed furnishings upholstered in fabrics made from recycled materials reflecting a purposeful balance of craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability.

Where Classic Cruising Inspires Modern Design

The redesigned Ocean Bar blends Art Deco elegance with subtle nautical influences to create a setting that feels both warm and sophisticated. Custom furnishings developed specifically for the venue feature details inspired by vintage travel trunks and luggage, including leather accents that nod to the romance of classic cruising.

The redesign also reflects Holland America Line's commitment to responsible stewardship. Existing lounge furnishings with years of life remaining will be refreshed and reupholstered in fabrics made with recycled content, giving well-loved pieces a new chapter while creating a balance between preservation and renewal. Combined with redesigned seating areas and a more open layout, the result is a venue that feels both familiar and new.

Bringing the Pinnacle Experience to More Ships

As the largest fleet update in the company's 153-year history, Holland America Evolution will revitalize all six Vista Class and Signature Class ships, starting with Oosterdam and Zuiderdam. The enhancements blend new offerings with guest favorites inspired by Holland America Line's Pinnacle Class ships. Designed around guest feedback, Evolution combines refreshed public areas, expanded venues and enhanced onboard offerings with the gracious service, destination-rich travel and perfectly sized ships that define Holland America Line. The company will invest more than $500 million across the six ships, including enhancements to onboard amenities and additional staterooms and suites that will provide more choice for travelers.

Bookings are now open for Oosterdam’s and Zuiderdam’s cruises following both refurbishments, giving guests an early opportunity to experience the updated staterooms, enhanced spaces and expanded venues firsthand.
