All onboard pricing, charges, and settlements are handled in U.S. dollars, so you do not need to carry multiple currencies for shipboard purchases. If you prefer traveler’s checks, U.S. traveler’s checks are also accepted.
Currency exchange and port-day planning
On selected itineraries, including certain European and World Cruise programs, a currency exchange service may be available. In ports of call, you can typically exchange U.S. dollars into local currency at banks, airports, and major hotels, and ATMs are often an easy way to obtain local cash. Most tourist locations accept major credit cards, and some may also accept U.S. dollars, but it’s not something you should count on. Plan ahead so you don’t miss out on small, local purchases.
Smart cash tip for guests
If you plan to use U.S. dollars in port, bring smaller denominations, such as ones, fives, tens, and twenties.
Important note about foreign currency at Guest Services
Foreign currencies cannot be accepted or exchanged by the Front Office, so please plan any foreign exchange needs while ashore or through the approved onboard exchange service when it is offered on your itinerary.
Cash advances
Cash advances are available at the Front Office. All cash advances are subject to restrictions. A 3% service fee will be added to your onboard account for all cash advances.
