Combine a luxury canal cruise with free time to explore the city of Amsterdam.
Fun and luxury quirkily collide in this magical melding of Old Amsterdam and Holland America Line history.
A coach transfer takes you to the city of Amsterdam where you’ll embark on a luxury canal cruise onboard a restored lifeboat, but it's not just any lifeboat — it's a 1940s lifeboat from ss Maasdam (II). You'll explore the stunning canals of Amsterdam from your seat in this beautiful, lovingly restored craft. In fact, your lifeboat is one of the few remnants of Maasdam (II), as she was torpedoed by the Germans in 1941.
As you step aboard, a smiling face hands you a glass of sparkling wine. Relax and enjoy the scenery as your skipper gets underway and you navigate serenely dynamic waterways that bisect leafy neighborhoods.
You will glide past many landmarks of the city, and your skipper will point out the highlights and answer your questions.
Afterwards, you’ll have around 3 hours to explore the city of Amsterdam independently.
Notes:
An English-speaking escort will be aboard the transfer motorcoach to answer questions en route. The lifeboat accommodates up to 35 guests. Additional beverages are available for purchase on the lifeboat. There are no restroom facilities on board. Participants must be able to step down into the boat unassisted. Tour operates rain or shine but may be canceled by the operator in the event of extreme weather or unsuitable conditions. The boat has an open top with a rain canopy; during inclement weather, an enclosed cabin luxury saloon boat will be substituted. Journey time to Amsterdam is approximately 1½ hours each way.
