Travel the famed Route des Châteaux for mile after mile of stunning scenery with seemingly endless vineyards.
The two-hour drive brings you to Bordeaux, a charming city of verdant parks, magnificent churches, sparkling waters and graceful bridges. The city itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to the historical significance of its 18th-century neo-Classical architecture.
Walk with your guide to see the city highlights. Admire the Esplanade des Quinconces, one of Europe's largest squares, and its column commemorating the French Revolution. Pass Place de la Bourse, the former royal square dedicated to Louis XV (1729). Your guided tour ends at the
Grand Theatre of the Bordeaux Opera, an absolute work of art.
You'll have free time for independent exploration and to purchase lunch (at your own expense). Rue Saint-Catherine is a pedestrian-only street lined with sophisticated shops.
Notes:
Lunch is not included. You will have time to purchase lunch at your own expense during the tour. Travel time is approximately two hours each way. Tour requires extensive walking. Shops are generally open from 10am to 7pm, except on Sundays and holidays. A few major stores may be open on Sundays and holidays.
