Your tour begins at the pier, where you'll board a comfortable coach and follow the river westward. As you leave the city behind, enjoy beautiful views of the wintry harbor, passing shipyards, docks, and festive waterfront lights reflecting on the water.
In the Blankenese neighborhood, you'll explore Treppenviertel — the Staircase Quarter. Wander through charming narrow alleys and winding paths and climb many stairways among elegant villas perched on the hillside above the Elbe. In the soft glow of Christmas lights, the district feels especially magical — quiet, refined, and serene.
Your guide shares stories of former fishermen's cottages, maritime life, and how this once-simple village became one of Hamburg's most exclusive residential areas. From panoramic viewpoints, take in sweeping views over the icy river, passing ships, and distant harbor skyline.
A panoramic drive skirts the banks of the River Elbe. Enjoy a warm seasonal drink — mulled wine or apple punch — while taking time to breathe in the crisp winter air and appreciate the low wintertime light creating a truly enchanting festive scene.
Take a Bergziege (mountain goat) — a small public bus back up to Blankenese upper area, capable of negotiating the narrow, winding streets before you return to the ship by coach.
