Discover Málaga’s rich archaeological remains and fascinating monuments on this panoramic drive past its marvelous landmarks. Ancient history is alive and well in this busy center of the Costa del Sol, and civilizations old and older have left remnants for you to admire and ponder.
Depart from the port, passing the bullring as you head towards the Gibralfaro viewing platform. From here, take in the splendid views over the port and part of the city.
Your drive continues back to the city center at Plaza de la Merced. Your guide will point out the house where Málaga’s most famous citizen — Pablo Picasso — was born.
A walking tour through the Old Town allows you to see from the outside the house where Picasso was born, the Alcazaba, the Roman theatre, and the Renaissance-style cathedral. The latter is now a National Monument.
Along the way, you will also see some interesting and beautiful 19th-century buildings, including the Town Hall, the Justice Court, and the Central Post Office.
The remainder of the tour takes you through the western part of the city, past the waterfront, and back to the ship.
Notes:
Tour requires an approximately seven-minute (550-yard) walk each way from the bus parking area to the cathedral. Additional walking is required in the Old Town. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Participants can choose not to do the walking tour of Old Town. No inside visits are included. Suitable for guests using a wheelchair with a companion to assist with boarding the coach via steps. Scooters cannot be accommodated. There is no restroom available during the tour.
