Embark on an unforgettable journey beneath the surface of Kona's crystal-clear waters aboard a state-of-the-art Atlantis submarine — one of the world's most advanced passenger submarines.
Your adventure begins at the Kailua-Kona pier, where you'll board a shuttle boat for a scenic ride along the Kona coastline. As you cruise past charming oceanfront views and volcanic landscapes, your guide will share insights into the region's rich cultural and geological history.
Transfer to the air-conditioned submarine with comfortable seating and large viewports designed to maximize your viewing experience. Begin your descent into a vibrant underwater world as the submarine gently dives to depths of more than 100 feet, offering a rare opportunity to explore 25 acres of thriving coral reef gardens — a reef system formed more than 18,000 years ago by ancient lava flows. These reefs are home to an astonishing variety of marine life, including hundreds of species of tropical fish, colorful corals, and other fascinating sea creatures.
One of the highlights of the tour is a sunken shipwreck, now transformed into a living reef that attracts marine life and showcases the power of nature's reclamation. This underwater ecosystem has been featured in National Geographic — a must-see for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
The knowledgeable and friendly crew provides engaging commentary.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Dive time is approximately 45 minutes. Minimum height is 36 inches. Participants must be able to safely climb a near-vertical, twelve-step ladder into and out of the submarine without assistance. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed. Tour does not operate on Sundays and Mondays.
