Your journey begins with a comfortable drive along Måløy's picturesque coastline, where the mountains meet the sea, to appreciate the raw charm of Norway's western seaboard.
Pause at the iconic Kannesteinen Rock — a sculpted stone shaped by centuries of wind and waves into a dramatic, mushroom-like formation. Set against the roaring sea, this natural sculpture is a must-see geological wonder. You'll have time to explore the surrounding shoreline and admire the raw power of nature.
Next, head to the serene Hendanes Lighthouse, perched on a rocky cliff at the edge of Vågsøy Island. Take a short, scenic walk to the lighthouse, where panoramic views of the North Sea and the rugged coastline unfold before you. Your guide will explain the lighthouse's history, its role in safeguarding local sailors, and the maritime heritage of the region.
Along the way, learn about life in Måløy, its wartime history, fishing traditions, and the close-knit coastal communities that thrive here.
Notes:
Terrain includes even and uneven surfaces, cobblestones, a steep incline, gravel, grass, and steps. Wear sturdy non-skid walking shoes. Dress warmly in layers with a windproof and waterproof outer layer; bring a warm hat, gloves and a scarf.
