After departing from the port, travel inland to the Tango region, an area renowned for its long-standing traditions and skilled craftsmanship.
Your first stop is the Tango Open Center, where you will learn about Tango Chirimen, a traditional silk textile unique to this region. Distinguished by its delicate crepe texture and elegant sheen, Tango Chirimen has been used for high-quality Japanese garments for centuries. At the center, exhibits introduce the production process and showcase a wide range of textile products, offering insight into techniques that date back to the Edo period and continue to be passed down through generations of artisans.
The tour then continues to Yosamusume Sake Brewery, a local sake brewery known for its craftsmanship rooted in the natural environment of Tango. Using locally grown rice and pure water, sake is carefully brewed according to traditional methods that emphasize quality and regional character. During the visit, you will take part in a guided brewery tour. The visit also includes a sake tasting, offering an opportunity to sample locally produced sake and experience flavors that reflect Tango’s climate, water, and ingredients, while learning about the role of sake in local culture and daily life.
After exploring these two highlights of Tango’s traditional industries, transportation returns to the port.
